LEJOG Challenge Completed: Over £35,000 Raised For Two Incredible Charities
After more than 1,000 miles in the saddle, Martin, Dave and Marc have successfully completed their Land’s End to John O’Groats cycling challenge, raising over £35,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust and Young Lives vs Cancer.
The challenge was inspired by Dave’s son, Shôn, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in June 2025 whilst studying law at the University of Liverpool.
What followed was an incredibly difficult period for Shôn and his family. Following multiple biopsies and operations, he underwent an intensive course of chemotherapy and spent four months in hospital. During treatment he also faced additional complications, including COVID-19, chemical meningitis and severe back problems.
Throughout this journey, Teenage Cancer Trust and Young Lives vs Cancer provided invaluable support to both Shôn and his family.
Wanting to give something back and help other families facing similar challenges, Dave set himself the goal of cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats. He was joined by his close friends Marc and Martin, who committed to taking on the challenge alongside him.
On 6th May 2026, the trio set off on their self-funded and self-supported ride, covering more than 1,000 miles from the very south of England to the northern tip of Scotland.
The challenge tested them physically and mentally, with long days, difficult weather conditions and countless hours on the road. However, the support they received throughout the journey helped keep them moving forward.
Friends, family, local businesses and supporters from across the country followed the challenge through regular updates and donated generously to the cause.
At the time of writing, the fundraising page has raised more than £35,000, with funds being split equally between Teenage Cancer Trust and Young Lives vs Cancer.
Reaching John O’Groats marked the end of an incredible challenge, but the impact of the fundraising will continue long after the final mile was ridden.
Congratulations to Martin, Dave and Marc on an outstanding achievement and thank you to everyone who supported the challenge along the way.
If you would still like to support the fundraising effort, donations can be made via the challenge fundraising page.
